Trouble & Bass: BLOG TAKEOVER - Part Six

Got into Paris yesterday bright and early at 11 a.m. after an overnight flight from New York. Shit, my wings are tired. Red-eye flights are brutal. Slept the day away while hobos banged away outside our Montmartre hotel and then it was time to meet up with the rest of the boys and Jinder, our Swedish singing sensation. Here they are in DTL's hotel room eatin' Percy Pig gummies—check out the devil's eyes on Josephine!

Headed to dinner at Chez Jeannette. Entrecôtes with bearnaise sauce all around, except for The Captain -- keepin' it hardcore straight-edge inna meat-and-wine-free stylee. Then off to Paris Social Club to tear up the dance. Many many "heads" in the house—entire Institubes crew (Teki Latex, Emile, Bobmo, Surkin, Para One, Das Glow), film director Romain Gavras, dudes from awesome ghetto house crew Booty Call—and I was so busy running around that I forgot to take pictures of any of them. Dum dummy. Some pics may surface tomorrow, after Drop The Lime recovers from Teki flipping him over a speaker. Here's a shot of The Captain DJing under Social Club's crazy lights.

Tonight it's time for the Fabric rinse-out session and I really have to go—we have a press shoot in 30 minutes and my hair's not even did yet and I'm in this room too busy bobbling around to Zinc's new Crack House EP. Uh oh. I leave you with a photo of the awesome bed at the hotel fabric always puts us up at. I always look forward to these hotel rooms even though I'll only get to spend about 3 hours here!

See you tonight on the dancefloor of room 2. Boom!

Let's peek in on what the T&B family are up to, courtesy of Star Eyes...

Gotta make this one brief because we're all rushin today. The Captain must be going hungry today--he sent through this photo of him and Drop The Lime's fridge with the caption "fridge of touring DJs." Just energy drinks.

He also snapped this photo of our friend Apollo lookin sad cos he just barfed. :(.

Meanwhile old DTL is eatin good on tour. Check out these delicious pumpkin feet!

Another day down, let's see what Star Eyes is getting up to...

Tuesday, November 3.

Started the morning off right with strong-brewed PG Tips and Jay Reatard on the hi-fi. Sunny and windy—feels like I should hit the beach, but it’s cold and this ain’t Cali! Guess I will just surf some mind waves instead… Mastered Ruby's remix of Star Eyes “Happy Haus” just came through my inbox and it’s an awesome early morning techno afterhours trip-out, helping me figure out Photoshop to make this tour flyer for my forthcoming Midwest US dates with Jubilee. We are this excited...

...because it was just confirmed that booty-house demi-god Bitch Ass Darius is playing with us in Minneapolis! My jelly is so readyyyyyy!

And just when we were wondering what happened to AC Slater, we got this special email from Froggy himself. “A week and a half into the Attack of the Hams tour and I feel like I'm just getting warmed up! I had my first ever Nando’s meal Saturday—spicy spicy!—and in Dublin we went to a pub where you have your own Guinness tap right at your table. Loved it! I got to play with Altern-8 in Berlin and, as always, the UK is bringing it harder than ever. Tonight, I get to link with my brother Drop the Lime in Leicester, and then Thursday in Paris with Star Eyes & The Captain for a big weekend of crew gigs. Here's a wobbly-shaky video I shot when I played Bigger Than Barry in Leeds the other night."

Miss you broHAM. Can't wait to get to London and have some Walkers Thai chili crisps and Ribena. Let's goooooooo!

Halloween hangovers cured, Star Eyes returns to give us a glimpse into the world of T&B...

Monday, November 2.

Up bright and early this morning to see the Supra1 boys off to L.A. and to wave a quick bye-bye to Drop the Lime, who is about to be on tour forever. (Well… over a month). I’m printing out itineraries and doing up my suitcase for this weekend’s T&B mini-Euro tour—PACK IN BLACK!!

Popped in to my roommate Dre Skull’s home studio to grab his forthcoming Mixpak release, Sticky’s “Jumeira Riddim,” which features some sickkkk dancehall vocals from rising Jamaican pop star Natalie Storm and a crazy Dexplicit remix. Fire in the dance! He had Natalie make us an awesome T&B VIP version - definitely excited to drop that on tour. Here’s a shot of Dre Dog on a two-computer rinse—note the vibe props: an empty bowl of vegan chili, some trail mix, and the dubstep cardigan. Keepin’ it healthy and ting.

After round one set us up...back into the mind of Star Eyes we go, to find out the aftermath of their epic Halloween bash.

Sunday, November 1.

Oh man, super recovery day from last night’s smashup with Fool’s Gold! Crew went ham last night and today we are some tired-ass piggies.

Luckily we skipped out on the minimal techno boat afterparty ’til noon—we’re fried bacon already. Pig puns aside, lots of crazy costumes, hot babes, and heads in the house last night, including Telly from Ninjasonik, 77Klash, XXXChange, Kingdom and Dallas’ Prince William...

...Fools Gold label head Nick Catchdubs (who did double duty as our MC)...

...Carrie Wilds (who sings on DTL's "Set Me Free"), and even Deadmau5.

(All of these photos, mixes, and more Brooklyn DJs acting a fool at photographer Nicky Digital’s website.)

After brunch today, we fought through the crowds of sweaty New York marathoners and took Little T to get some beautiful script from Michelle at Saved, our favorite tattoo spot in Williamsburg. He turned white as a sheet and we thought he was gonna pass out, but the tattoos turned out proper!

Finished off the night with a crew pizza party at Neapolitan spot Motorino and then back off home to pick through tunes! Never sleep never sleep never sleep. And speaking of tunes, did you download the Kanji Kinetic remix of DTL’s “Set Me Free” yet? What are you waiting for? Ravey gravy!!!!
