It’s become a bit of a tradition that Billy Nasty celebrates his birthday with us here in EC1 and it’s almost criminal that we’ve got no evidence of his blistering techno sets up online to document the bleeding-edge sound of Billy Nasty, that is, until now…
Billy’s illustrious career has its roots in the birth acid house which led to him being at the helm of the hit you where it hurts dancefloor electro and techno labels Tortured and Electrix Records. During their time they released the likes of Cari Lekebush, The Advent, Bass Junkie and Phil Kieran filling the record bags of those DJ’s looking for that harder sound, people including Dave Clarke and Laurent Garnier. In more recent years Billy has chosen to focus his efforts more on his DJing and production; consequently DJing on an international scale. A resident at the magnificent Bloc festival he’s also set sail as a new project with Keith ‘Radioactiveman’ Tenniswood, aptly named Radionasty. The duo have started off well with their first track being unveiled on the booming EPM 10 Compilation and we can look forward to hearing more from the dastardly pair this year.
This mix captures the energy of Mr. Nasty’s sets perfectly, building and pumping while showing off his ear for the extraordinary, we can prepare to paint Room Two red this Saturday with the help of fellow hard hitters Ben Sims and Len Faki.
Happy Birthday Billy!
