Audio: Double Up On Donaeo

Returning to Farringdon with his explosive live show, Donaeo will be joining the enigmatic DJ Marky, the latest DJ to tackle our mix series with his sunlit FABRICLIVE 55 mix, for his album launch a week on Friday. Setting his mixture of song smithery, often fuelled by a relentless club leaning house kick drum, amongst a player like Marky works perfectly; Donaeo’s riddims uplift even though at times his lyrical content can inspire more thought than movement.

Ahead of the performance we’re rounding up a couple of free tracks that are populating music aggregators and blogs alike. Showing both textures and styles of his music they’re a great insight into his output. First given away on Annie Mac’s blog, ‘When Angels Sing’ is more of a ballad, the sensual, pensive side of Donaeo, presented over a 4x4 throb that’s laced with classical piano. ‘Where Da Mansdem At?’ is upfront bassline from Burgaboy who throws in elemental G-funk pianos before wheeling out the heavy basslines he’s becoming renowned for; a heavyweight drop, to get club’s systems working overtime.
