This weekend we welcome back a living legend top Farringdon. Eddie Richards, the man responsible for the seductive dark-time soundtrack of fabric 16 – and also for the small matter of the birth of house and techno in the UK (he was crowned ‘Britain’s Godfather of House and Techno by Mixmag), is a consistent reference point in the documentation of the rise of the music that we so adore. He began blending tribal house and techno, powered by the bass of the acid house movement, creating a sound that went on to be known as ‘tech-house’ and it remains Eddie’s signature groove to this day – still as relevant as ever and just as powerful on the dancefloor.
He’ll be joining Terry Francis up in Room Three to launch Terry’s new Klunk & Zilly imprint in style this Saturday, alongside a live performance from Richard Seely and a DJ set from Dodha, and to mark the occasion he’s passed us a live DJ mix which he recorded in LA last month to get you into a rib tickling mood ready for the weekend.
