Mara Trax Mara Trax is the felicitous union of Maayan Nidam (aka Miss Fitz) and Vera Heindel, a pairing who, after meeting in Berlin in 2007, have been pushing their own deep house agenda all across the globe. They began releasing on Spanish label Cyclical Tracks going on to release their debut EP on Oslo Records in 2008, their own brand of house mixing deep bass lines that are punctuated with crippled snares and packed full of eclectic references to the old school sounds. 2010 saw them featured on Perlon’s Superlongevity 5, a coup indeed. The pair’s music has also been described by RA as ‘rough and sloppy house tunes’ which is stylistically, a good thing; they’re characteristics that are super important to the duo when it comes down to the expression of soul and funk in their music. It’s also part of the reasoning they hardly ever do studio mixes, fearing that perfectly crafted and edited mixes will sterilize the experience. So here, we are privvy to a live recording of Mara Trax. Fresh from February this year it’s packed full of energy and love for Roland’s 303 and 909 units, a true and timely treat ahead of their Room Three takeover next Saturday where the lovely Magda will rule Room One and we do it Berghain style in Room Two with Ryan Elliiot and Barker & Baumecker.
