Audio: Om Unit's Computer Jay - The Phantom Refix

Over here at fabric headquarters, we are brimming with excitement ahead of the bass music marathon set to take over our disco on Friday 3rd December. We’ll be gathering an assembly of perhaps the finest ambassadors at the epicenter of the current output of UK electronic music and the various future paths it’s taking. Each room tells a different story, but the overarching concept is mutual. We don’t know how to describe it; no one really knows what it’s called; all we know is that these artists are producing some of the most innovative, exciting sounds we’ve heard in years. The stuff that dreams are made of, our tingz are so fresh we wanted to air them on the blog to give them a chance to mellow out. This is what we’re saying: ROOM ONE: Joker, Plastician, TC, SBTRKT, Om Unit, Mensah ROOM TWO: 2562, dBridge, Instra:mental, Loefah, Commix, Cooly G, Indigo ROOM THREE: Shortstuff, Mosca, Altered Natives, Girl Unit, Marco Del Horno Kicks, snares and hi-hats in abundance, mangled soul and garage vocals, 808 heavy rhythms, dark, ethereal mists, tropical house melodies, minimal spaces, synths of neon clarity… we could go on all day. These are the producers who have made all eyes focus on the UK. From the Tron-style vividness of Joker, the down-tempo take on drum and bass from dBridge and Instra:mental to the all-genre-encompassing selections of Mosca; we urge you to tie your shoes correctly because we’re taking you on a wild and wonderful journey dance. Set to grace Room One is Om Unit, a tough man to challenge when it comes to avant-garde sounds. Ahead of the show he’s linked us up with a free download of his remix of Computer Jay’s 'The Phantom' dubplate, which includes enough quivering synths, piercing strings and plodding percussions to truly get your bop on. Check it out and then whip over to our listings page to nab your ticket for the 3rd. Download: Computer Jay - The Phantom (Om Unit Dub)
