Bass music has become such a clusterfuck that you’re now likely to hear anything and everything, all kinds of sounds and approaches, in the space of one DJ’s set. A great example of such diversity is Joe’s ‘Claptrap,’ released on Hessle Audio the sparse percussion track has been cained by grime and funky DJs alike, all of them letting the overzealous claps ring out, either over similarly scatter gun grime snare shots or a straight 4x4 beat. It’s just the way it’s gone now, anything goes, your as likely to hear trance bending synths over potent half step as you are atmospheric cave dwelling reverberations.
Described by iDJ magazine as "one of the most exciting producers working in the London bass scene,” London’s RackNRuin is doing his best to epitomize this, bringing euphoric moments to the hardline combinations of drum sounds and modulated bass, something he demonstrates in his remix for blossoming pop duo Oh My!.
Working in a similar vein to luminaries Magnetic Man, RackNRuin knows when to let rip and that penchant for energy is captured perfectly here, on his mix to mark his appearance at the Urban Nerds Room Two takeover a week tomorrow. Catch him performing there alongside Breakage, Plastician & P Money, Dem 2, Marcus Nasty and the Urban Nerds residents...
