Catching Up With..dOP + Their fabric Promo Mix

French trio, dOP have a tremendous reputation as one of the most exciting, underground live acts out there. With real emotional resonance and raw improvisation the group emit flawlessly executed, sexed up house and techno sounds when they take to the stage. Drawing influence from a breadth of creators from the likes of The Hercules & Love Affair to the young jazz players from Europe and their obscure French folk-led project ‘Les Fils du Calvaire’ - it all helps to inform and deepen their own unique sound. It's always a special treat to have dOP do their thing on the Room One stage and they'll be back on Saturday 15th December, next to Tobi Neumann and Droog. Fans next week keep an eye on our blog because dOP have given us an exclusive download for one week only - read on to find out that track in question and much more from dOP. Warming your ears this week, we're excited to debut this brand new mix from them which they describe as "a selection of rare and amazing music, from artists from today and yesterday. From any genre, just good things. Some were difficult to get, so enjoy!" What have been the stands out moments for dOP in 2012 that have given you a real buzz? Jaw: We keep playing, keep being honest, we worked a little more on our communication. Damian: I think it can never be built in one or two moments but with the constant activity. We’re on the road since more than five years every week end. Playing in every condition, making music in the studio. After last year's success "No More Daddy," you returned to Circus Company with the "Kisses" EP this Summer. We’re grateful for you to give us the download for the single next week. Can you describe it for our listeners? Jaw : Kisses is our way to say thanks to everyone who been supporting us all these years. Damian: It's a song done before Summer and the idea was to play it during this time - now we play it as more techno in live. But it's still sexy and sunny. Clement: We want to advertise and make the promo of the kissing thing in general and for everybody. How has your relationship with Circus Company evolved since you first released with them five years ago? What is it that keeps you coming back? Jaw: They are professional; we love to see the label as it’s growing up. It’s a love story what can I say. Damian: The label is great, very serious, with a great taste of music and pushing forward styles. And things are only getting bigger for the label. All the artists have serious and mature musical visions. Not just the sound of hype. Clement: They are great guys! They made us start and we understand each other better and better. Are there any plans for a follow up album from ‘The Greatest Hit’s in 2010? If so, what journey would you want to take listeners on this time round? For the moment the only way to hear unreleased tracks is to come see us on stage. We don’t know when a next album will come. All I know is that our next release on Circus Company is a bomb. Close up! Damian: Yes a lot of fresh music is coming, but not as an album for dOP. Maybe a fabric mix CD? Can you tell us some more on your other music projects, ‘Aquarius Heaven’ and ‘Les Fils du Calvaire’? They sound very alluring exploring new soundscapes and French vocals.? Jaw : "Les Fils Du Calvaire " is our big other project at the moment, we are happy to change, play live with a drummer, a guitarist and chorist. It’s a fantastic experience and for me and it’s very interesting to write in French. As for Aquarius Heaven - I’m not so involved in this project but what I know is that the next releases are bombing. On my side, I have a lot of featuring releases coming out these days and I’m very happy to tell you that my first Solo EP "Hazihi Laylaty" is coming out soon on Circus Company . Damian: Aquarius goes on his own, he's performing his live all around, improving his skills, I’m very proud of him and now we meet in the studio for the next odyssey. Les Fils Du Calvaire - the project has started and the first EP is coming out in January, with a video and website. We’ve already done a dozen concerts, in England, Russia, Spain, Germany and France. The story is on its way. Clement: Honestly they are both cool projects and it's good for us to be in different bands to make different music and not make all our ideas and musical desires in one project. I mean it would be like eating your soup, your steak, your salad and your dessert at the same time in the same plate - not cool. How are you looking forward to playing with Tobi Neumann & Droog in Room One? Do you have some stories to share with us from your experience of hanging out together before this night? Jaw: Sometimes there’s some experiences that are better not to share, excuse my English.. Damian: Nice team for the weekend and it's great to be back with Tobi in fabric, we already have some great memories together there! Clement: I’m always very happy to hear anything from Tobi Neumann and when you add fabric on it, I know it’s gonna be crazy like we love. How has your live show developed since we saw you a year ago in Room One? What new material can we look forward to hearing and what’s your favourite track to play live right now? Jaw: More and more than before with our live show, you never know what you’re going to get. That’s what we like. We have a lot of way to play and I think that's why people keep booking us. I really love to play "Kisses" and it’s not because it’s our last release. Damian: We play a lot of new tracks that we just made for the live, they are not finished or released .Especially two new songs “Close Up" and "Jealous Guy.” Clement: We also tour now with six dancers from the reel of Moulin Rouge from Paris. What other live acts across the music spectrum do you find inspiring to watch and why? Jaw: I love the live show of our dear friend "Steve Smyth" and I really love Bodi Bill too. Damian: I enjoy the mood of Hercules & Love Affair and Kim Ann Foxmann. It was nice to play with new musicians for Fils Du Calvaire, I think they inspired me for doing fresh music, some young jazz players who are very talented from Berlin and Paris. Clement: I would say the same as Damian. My Coup De Coeur from this year was Hercules and Love Affair. Finally, what’s your plans for New Years Eve? Do you have any resolutions you want to share with us? Jaw : This year will be wild in Mexico. I’ve got some really nice resolutions but I will talk to you about it in six months.. it’s better. Damian: We're going on a Mexican tour with the Audiofly crew. It’s the first time we'll celebrate New Year in the sun!
