Catching Up With...Laura Jones + Her fabric Promo Mix

Laura Jones rise to stardom under the Visionquest and Leftoom banners has made her one of the most sought after talents of this year. Her globe-trotting tour schedule and string of in-demand productions has captivated a house-loving crowd and a venerable family of artists from Ryan Crosson, Clive Henry to Matt Tolfrey, plus she tells us there’s still more to come this year. “Coming up, I have a Visionquest EP as well as a remix for Dusky on Alex Arnout's label Dogmatik ('Every Day from the Flo Jam EP').” In her endless mission to bring the party to you whatever part of the globe you're dancing on - we stopped Laura in her tracks to tell us her most special moments of 2012 so far. We're green with envy as a South American Tour, Burning Man and Ibiza's DC10 all make an appearance (obviously) and no doubt that next year's list will go even bigger. It's an exciting day for us too because Laura has delivered a fresh new promo mix in a harmonious blend of house and techno taking us through to her Room One slot for Tyrant this Saturday next to the formidable Craig Richards, Lee Burridge and Sam Russo. The other two times were also pretty special but this was the highlight. Don't think I've ever been so nervous and excited all at the same time. SOUTH AMERICAN TOUR, Brazil, Peru (+ Mexico) In early August, I travelled to South America to do my first tour playing D'Edge and Warung and parties in Rio, Chapeco, Lima and Mexico City. It was my first time in that part of the world and it blew me away. I fell in love with Rio and playing D'Edge and Warung was a real honour as it had been a big aspiration of mine to play there one day. BURNING MAN FESTIVAL, Black Rock Desert, Nevada I was lucky to play at Burning Man several times this year. It was the second time I've been and playing on the Mayaan warrior art car as the sun came up was a definite moment as was playing Disco Knights for the Hotquest party. An absolutely stunning and dream-like setting, the whole thing was amazing and very surreal. MYSTERYLANDS FESTIVAL & STUDIO 80, Amsterdam, Holland August Bank Holiday weekend, I closed the Visionquest stage after Seth and Ryan. I love when the opportunity arises to get the techno out and ID-T really know how to throw a good party. The night was topped off pretty perfectly with Ryan Crosson and I playing a 4 hour b2b at the after-party at Studio 80. THE GARDEN FESTIVAL, Tisno, Croatia It was my first time in Croatia this summer and it was a pleasure to play the beautifully picturesque, small-scale event that is the Garden festival. I played the closing set on the beach stage on the Saturday night and with such an idyllic setting overlooking the Adriatic sea, great people and music and not forgetting the nice warm climate, it really was the perfect combination. BACK TO BASICS @ THE GARAGE, Leeds, UK It's always nice to play in the hometown, especially for an institution such as Back To Basics and now it's housed at Leeds' freshest and best venue, it was the third and most special time I've played there without a doubt...
