DSB Blog Takeover: Catching Up With Redlight

Posted in Blog Takeover In The Company Of... Digital Soundboy on Wednesday 04th May, 2011 by Smash Gordon

After shedding his Clipz moniker and bursting emphatically on to the dubstep rave circuit with tracks like ‘What You Talking About?’ as Redlight, there’s been a massive slab of interest thrown in his general direction. Backing up the hype fruitfully with his forthcoming work on the DSB label we shot him a couple of quick questions ahead of his appearance here on Friday.

How are you? What are you up to at the moment?
I’ve just come back from a US tour and have been in Russia and Estonia, so am looking forward to being back in the studio and playing some UK clubs...

You’ve tend to work on a lot of collaborations, such as on your last EP ‘Lobster Boy’ which featured Jenna G, Jammer and Serocee – do you prefer working with other artists? How do they usually come about?
Well the last two release’s featured Ms Dynamite and Roses Gabor, so I do like working with different artists but my latest release is two instrumental tracks just so people know I’m not all about using featured artists and that. I am a artist in my own right. ‘Source 16’ & ‘Progress’ are forthcoming on Digital Sound boy in May (cough cough)...

Which 3 tracks refuse to leave your record box at the moment?

Vampires - Redlight
Progress – Redlight
Off The Trax’s – New York Transit Authority

Finally, some quickfire questions to help us get to know the DSB crew a little better:

Who is the most fun to tour with?
Dread Mc & Toddla T

Who is always the last to leave the dancefloor?
The Bar Staff

What’s your favourite recent DSB release?
Shy Fx – Raver (MJ Cole Remix)
