fabric is 13 Birthday Countdown: Matt Tolfrey Recorded Live In Room Two

Matt Tolfrey has almost become a part of the furniture here at fabric. His early excess of enthusiasm has never tired and he's one of those people who made the transition from party-fueled reveller to hedonism selector over the course of a few years. He'll be providing carefully staged musical selections on our 13th Birthday, a short cry from when he attend our very first birthday as a punter. For those who have witnessed some of the Leftroom boss' magic behind the decks, you’ll know his sets are always charged with an all-important tension and atmosphere that oscillates between house, techno and rave. The latter of those three is what we’ll be doing for 30 hours non-stop on October 20th so to get you ready for that kind of dancefloor turbulence, we've dug out a rare recording from Tolfrey in Room Two back in July to stream until he's here for real later this month. To get the full line-up and ticket info visit our event listings. We asked Matt about how he's looking forward to the birthday celebrations and this is what he had to say: "I remember coming to fabric's first birthday when Adam Freeland was a no show. Lee Burridge filled in for Adam in Room Two and played the best breaks set I have ever heard and the main highlight was Craig and Terry playing back 2 back in Room One for so long that I missed my train back. Since then fabric has become my second home and I always make sure I make it down to celebrate with the fabric crew on this weekend, it always ends up being an adventure. "It also coincides with my own birthday each year which makes it even more special. Being an even bigger part of it by playing really is the icing on the cake for me this year and although they say 13 is unlucky for some, it's obviously not for me!"
