Feed Your Stereo: LEE CURTISS

Posted in Downloads Music on Wednesday 15th July, 2009 by David Russell

Detroit’s Lee Curtiss will be gracing the decks this Saturday, warming up Room One for Akufen, Jamie Jones and Craig Richards. He has put together a spellbinding mix of deep and techy house balancing a wealth of unreleased tracks with current gems like Butch and Virginia’s ‘From Above’ and his own work on labels Wolf+Lamb and BPitch Control.

Lee opens the mix with some simply beautiful deep house: Sued’s ‘Canson’ and ‘I Keep Secrets’ by up and coming Parisian youngster Le Loup are perfect daydream material and both producers are certainly worth keeping an eye out for. The warped vocals of Lee’s own ‘South Aphrika’ (a cheeky response to Troxler’s ‘Aphrika’) add the first instance of funk into the mix and some classic house comes courtesy of DJ Ali and DJ Dealer around the half way mark. Personal favourite ‘I’d Rather Not Say’ by Drunky is a gorgeous track that is worth keeping a mental note of until more is revealed about its release details or even its unknown producer! Be sure to check out Lee Curtiss on Saturday night to see what other gems he has in record box.
