Five Track Chaser: Pev (aka Hatfield Peverel Junglist Massive)

You might know the name Peverelist in relation to a few things, namely his productions, his record label Punch Drunk and his co-run imprints Livity Sound and Dnuos Ytivil or just through him playing a very Bristolian selection of weird techno records at a darkened club near you. But he’s much more than just that short list of accomplishments. Before all of his excursions into vinyl production and experimentation, he was just a guy who was really into jungle and for a while there he made mixes and went under the name Hatfield Peverel Junglist Massive - which he later shortened to the Peverelist name that we know and mispronounce almost every time. Now seemingly content now to just go under the three letter moniker, Pev, we wanted to explore his jungle roots a bit further - both through this article format and the booking of an exclusive B2B jungle set with his former housemate and Tectonic boss, Pinch, in Room Three at FABRICLIVE on Friday 21st June. So what you’ve got here is a slight bastardization of our Five Track Chaser format where people simply pick 5 tracks to embellish a theme because this is the first part of a very Bristol clash. This is both a hint, a guide to his junglist taste and a uniquely barbed acetate themed gauntlet that Pev has thrown down ahead of Pinch before they go tune for tune in the club next month. We’ll be posting Pinch’s rebuttal on the blog early next week but for now, dip your ears into some of the standout records in Pev’s record collection. S.O.S – Spacefunk: The Truper (Aka Photek) - The Truper Vol.2 - Side A: DJ Krust – Quiz Show: Kemet Crew – The Seed: DJ Crystl – Mind Games: Catch Pev going back to back with Pinch for an exclusive celebration of jungle in Room Three on Friday 21st June. They'll also both be appearing in the Tectonic hosted Room One playing the types of records you'd more associate with their regular sets.
