For some, 2011 is the year you promise to stop smoking or start buying lottery tickets at a luckier store but for Quartz Rec frontman, Paul Ritch, he pledges the year to techno. Following the success of his first ever released track, Samba 12” on Resopal Schallware in 2006, the Parisian-based producer has been firing out a steady stream of techno bombs on era-defining imprints such as, Wagon Repair, Drumcode, 100% Pure, as well as his own imprint, Quartz Rec which saw him most recently link up with fellow Frenchman D’Julz for the pedigree big room techno track “Run.” Dominated by minimalist sounds, intense, deep and active, Quartz Rec picks on a vibe that looks strong for 2011.

Snatch a listen of Paul’s guest mix on the stellar Adam Beyer Drumcode Radio Show and we’re positive you’re pulses will be pounding as hard as ours.

In his own words….

“Quartz-Rec label based in Paris opened it's doors towards the end of 2008. The main idea was to melt genres that really inspire me the most which is techno, minimal, tech-house and dub techno. At this point, my name was just beginning to be known, so it was a good opportunity to open my own imprint. What i want to release is music that helps you escape when you are on the dance floor and that makes you focus on it and plays with your mind.

Quartz had also the chance to work with amazing artists such as Dubfire, Nic Fancuilli, Michel de Hey, Carlo Lio, Okain, Hermanez, OTP, Thomas muller aka Change.

A little over 2 years later I'm really happy with all the releases we have had, some were more on the tech-house tip like Okain and Hermanez and at the same time Carlo, Nic, Michel and myself were more on techno side of things.

2011 will mainly focus on techno!
