Introducing: Mensah (+ Download his Exclusive Joker Remix and Promo Mix)

Hailing from Bristol, Mensah makes a noise that shouts as loud as his South West based counterpart Jakes in as much a colourful way as one of his home cities brightest lights, Joker, does. With an EP, Untitled Future Funk appearing on Jake’s H.E.N.C.H. imprint amongst other releases and collaborations on Baobinga’s BUILD and LoDubs, Mensah displayed a kind of dancefloor ownership that offered the now pre-requisite bass weight with a decidedly more dance element. Steering away from the catterwalling kind of synths that can become tired and predictable after the first drop, he laced tracks like ‘1986 Was The Future’ and ‘Untitled Future Funk’ with disorientating shards of computer funk. Built solidly around the heavy, halfstep drum structure his productions bang. Whilst also producing at the drum & bass tempo Mensah taps into that undulating darkness that beset a genre so long obsessed with murk, applying some of those rigid bass tones to tracks that bubble with his distinct computer game vivid melody style. By way of introduction he’s laced us with a duo of exclusives ahead of his debut appearance down here this Friday.
