Introducing Sushitech + Yossi fabric Promo Mix

Sushitech Logo Bound by the solid bond of friendship, Yossi Amoyal and Matt du Jardin run Sushitech Records with a spirit as strong as they started. Established in 2005, they live and breathe the energetic and exuberant Berlin lifestyle having recently made the move from London’s maddening metropolis. Both fans of surrealism art and of course, Sushi, they stand behind music with soul and their core roster of artists from Makam to Delano Smith and newcomer Julietta compliment this style effortlessly. Staying true to the expression of underground music, we caught up with the mood-deep producers to find out why “hype” is a word that is over-rated plus we get the downlow on hot new singing Julietta and the upcoming Sushitech releases and remixes ready to drop. As if that wasn’t enough, we have a killer exclusive mix from Yossi which has transported us to a state of bliss beyond description. DOWNLOAD: Yossi fabric Promo Mix Let's start with the most obvious question - Why the name Sushitech – are you both Japanese food fans? This is a very common question to be honest. We are both fans of surrealism art and we love the combination of 2 names that make no sense or actually a new sense together. We of course love Sushi and always happy to celebrate with good meal but we choose the name more because we like the freaky way it sound. For our readers can you please explain why when and how Sushitech came to be? We were both good friends for quite a long time before we opened the label. Sharing a passion and an interest in music and also knowing a few people from the scene (Yossi was also producing) we talked about it and decided to try and share our own take on music with the world and start a record label. Sushitech was actually started in Guernsey, Channel Islands (where Matt comes from) so we sat down thought about it and decided to talk to some friends who produced and other artists, this is how it all got started. We always believed in trying to create a family of artists who are not just people we work with but also our friends and whom we can enjoy music, parties and other things with as well. So much about running a label and the music industry in general is going out there and meeting people. Looking back at it we were just kids when we started with a lot of drive and a lot passion. We had very little money as well in the beginning and it was all funded out of our own pockets. Slowly though over the years we’ve managed to build things up to where we are today. The love and desire is still as strong as day one and we are constantly learning and re-adjusting things as the industry changes. What would you say is Sushitech’s raison d’etra? For sure its to continue to build a network of people who share the same feelings about music as we do and to push the music forward in to the unknown. Sushitech was never started as a business or anything like that and we don't aim to be one of those 'hyped' labels. Sushitech is an underground label and we try to stay true to this. If we see that people like and play our music due to “ hype” then we try and steer away from this and be less obvious in what we do. This is the reason why we appreciate artists such as Baby Ford and Radiohead, they always do it for the love and not for the hype and you can hear it. We do it for the sake of art. We want to see in our parties people that listen to the music, feel our groove and can even cry when the music is emotional and touching. This is the reason we are trying to have more labels parties in an attempt to make that happen. We want people that attend our shows to get a different musical experience - to enter our world of sound. If you ever went to an amazing show or party and something changed inside of you afterward then you understand this feeling. Do you find it’s a struggle to have your voice heard in Berlin amongst such an expanse of house and techno or do you think the opposite is more true? Well we don’t make too much noise here to be honest. We don’t promote our releases in a big or commercial way or go out of our way to be heard or anything like that. We have our parties at Watergate and various other places in Europe. This, coupled with good quality releases is enough to gain the respect you need to be heard. When you do something from the soul then people can hear it. We love Berlin and the inspiration it gives us. We care the most how to develop the scene here, in our city and how to take the sound forward – you can say that Sushitech is a 100% Berlin based label now Could each of you choose a track to share with us from the label and explain why? Yossi - For me to choose one track is very difficult because all the records we've put out are our babies and we had special moments with each of them at certain points in time, one track that I'm really proud to release though is 'Constellation' by Delano Smith. The track by itself is very simple but the way it brings out is message is just perfect - less is more. Matt – Again, we’ve put out so many good tracks it’s really hard to choose just one! I’d say Makam – New York G is up there though, it’s a fantastic production and sounds incredible in the club. We still hear this played out quite a lot so it’s really standing the test of time and it’s becoming a real classic. What’s a typical day in the life running Sushitech? We are in touch daily with our family of artists on the label and we are also very close friends and this is the key to going forward with what we all love to do. Sometimes Delano, Tony or Guy will stay over at our place for a few days or even weeks and we will work and inspire each other and also party together. It’s very important to experience the same feelings not just with the music but in general. We share ideas and work together on new productions in an effort to develop the sound of the label. Music is also our biggest passion so we basically work and learn 24 /7. Can you share with us the latest news and what we can look forward to in the future from Sushitech? First off, the last member to join the label is Julietta. She's one of our favorite DJs and definitely one of the most amazing talents on the European House scene in our opinion. Our relationship started few years ago, we always loved to play together at parties and we have similar musical taste. We always wanted her to be a part of our family, but because she doesn't produce music we thought to collaborate with her on a new compilation project that I (Yossi) will be doing for the label. It will be 2 double records ,one of myself solo and the other one of me and Julietta together. These releases will feature some unreleased tracks of our friends that are not necessarily core producers of Sushitech, and some rare tracks that we love to play in our parties. Apart from this, we also have more releases from our main producers. A Double EP and a new album from Delano Smith, new remixes to the Makam (Our rising star) album and new single of the extremely talented XDB. We always try to push the music that we love forward and give motivation to artists that inspire us to keep releasing music. Much love and respect - Yossi & Matt x
