NEWSFLASH: FABRICLIVE presents Azymuth playing 'Light As A Feather' Live In June

Returning for the first time since the passing of original keyboard player José Roberto Bertrami, legendary Brazilian jazz and proto funk fusionists, Azymuth, are once again touring, with the London leg of their world tour slated to take place in Room One here at fabric on Thursday 20th June 2013. In 1979 the Azymuth’s first Milestone Records release, Light As A Feather, quickly became one of the best-selling LPs of that year. Featuring the worldwide disco/fusion hit single ‘Jazz Carnival’ and going on to sell more than half a million copies internationally - the album stayed in the UK Top 20 for eight straight weeks. An incredibly well thought out album both in pace, song selection and musicality, Light As A Feather marked a maturing of the band as they began to rightfully utilise the studio as an instrument itself, embracing numerous mixing and recording techniques not yet common for the time. And it’s this record that Azymuth - with the addition of lifetime fan and student of Bertrami, Fernando Moraes on keyboards - will be performing live come June here in Farringdon. Having toured the world over for four decades in support of the vast catalogue and following a re-issue of the Light As A Feather album by Far Out Recordings last year (which includes unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions and remixes from Theo Parrish and Ashley Beedle), the band have put together a live show that’s reportedly better than ever before; creating a truly unique opportunity to witness the band fully revisit their most loved album. DJ support on the night comes courtesy of BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson. Advance tickets/event info here: http://www.fabriclondon.com/club/listing/713
