High Fidelity: 160bpm + Favourites With Kode9

Posted in Videos High Fidelity on Tuesday 22nd January, 2013 by Smash Gordon

This Friday Kasra’s Critical Sound residency welcomes a headliner who, despite being just as heavily influenced by old jungle records, comes from a slightly different world. Respected DJ, producer, author and Hyperdub label boss, Kode9, also enjoys a residency here at FABRICLIVE and has been known to venture up into the quicker echelons of dance music before, so the prospect of him playing a set that tours 160 bpm + on a lineup that boasts an ‘old skool’ schooling from Randall going back to back with Bailey and sets from hotly tipped newcomers like Mefjus and Xtrah, is a pretty bountiful and rewarding one.

Known to support the footwork/juke movement, inviting the Chi-town scene’s finest to perform alongside him with at Hyperdub branded shows, Kode’s kindly selected a cross section of the type of sounds he’ll be connecting on Friday in what we’re calling his ‘160bom + Favourites’ to give you a better idea of what you could expect from one of these unpredictable sets...

Jungle:

Lemon D - This is LA

Undercover Agent - Oh Gosh

DJ SS - Hearing is Believing (MA2 remixes)

Urban Jungle - Back in the Dayz (Naughty Mix)

DJ Nut Nut - Special Dedication

Footwork:

DJ Rashad - Kush Aint Loud

Traxman - Need Some Money

Spinn & Rashad - Mercy

Durban - 32 Seconds
