Audio: Nick Anthony Simoncino Drops an Hour of Forgotten Deep House Gems

Nick Anthony Simoncino is an Italian producer, DJ and record collector. His longstanding obsession with vinyl is the main avenue proving his broad tastes, although his sound is probably linked closest to Chicago house, Detroit techno and 80s garage. Taking inspiration from the sound of vintage synths and drum machines, he first started producing music in the late 2000s after amassing his own collection of hardware. With a distinct palette at the deeper end of house, some of his earliest productions landed on the respected French label home to influential artists like DJ Sprinkles: Skylax. Although he’s operated largely under the radar for some time, his later work has also seen him land on labels like Crème Organization, and, perhaps most famously, Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S. As this mix shows, the sound of his collection is also not a world apart from the music he makes. Recorded for us ahead of his appearance at the club in just a few weeks, here Simoncino takes us through a revelatory hour of 90s deep house, acid house and techno gems to give an idea of what he’ll be bringing to Room One on 4th March.
