Steffi’s debut album followed just a year later in 2011 on Ostgut. Entitled Yours & Mine, the album’s title track became something of an anthem. With ‘stone cold classic’ stamped all over from the off, it elevated her work a little, helping her album achieve the rapturous round of critical support it deserved. Now in 2014, with a smattering of 12"s having flown in the interim, the Dutch born artist is poised to release her follow up LP, Power of Anonymity and we’re stoked to tell you that her new work takes a different tack on references, looking back to Steffi's roots and the formative records that initially guided her appreciation of music. In other words this release draws more from Autechre and Drexciya than afternoon sessions in Panorama Bar, much as the artist in question explains in the record's press release...
“I wanted to start working on my new album without any personal or external expectations and I was seeking an emancipated, unshackled approach in the album’s construction. I intended to include electro and IDM elements as these are my roots: it's the music that I first started DJing. After almost 20 years I got the feeling that I've come full circle, so I wanted to make an album that I, as a DJ, would like to carry in my record bag." - Steffi
Announced in September Ostgut have just released the first audio for public consumption, timed perfectly to herald the supporting tour that we're kicking off here in Room Two this Saturday when Steffi joins Martyn, Virginia and Dexter for her album launch.
