In recent years Ivan Smagghe has become increasingly well known for his multifarious record collection - particularly when they come to life in his now infamous b2b sets with Andrew Weatherall - so much so that it’s easy to forget all the other talents and projects that Ivan is associated with; from Blackstrobe and It’s A Fine Line to his label and creative collective Kill The DJ.
The latest release on the Kill The DJ label comes from London based rockers Battant and is produced by Ivan and Tim Paris (under their collaborative production duo moniker, It’s A Fine Line). Mixing a punk ethos in opening track ‘Shutter’ with the bare analogue electronics of ‘Oldschool, Baby,’ which moves into synth pop territory, this EP is for listening as well as the dancefloor - especially thanks to remixes from Jennifer Cardini and Capracara. This single is being released in September ahead of the full It’s A Fine Line produced album due out in October.
We have 5 copies of the vinyl version of Battant’s single to give away to you, our readers, in celebration of Ivan Smagghe’s appearance under Andrew Weatherall’s promotion banner of Wrong Meeting here this August bank holiday weekend. To win a copy just email us with It's A Fine line in the subject line by this time on Friday.
