On Saturday 26th March one half of our powerful resident team, Terry Francis, unleashes his brand new label on the world. Named after two characters from Hannah Barbera’s trailblazing cartoon Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines, Klunk & Zilly unleashed its first EP at the tail end of last year emphasizing the outfit’s blend of ‘tough, deep and quirky spaced out fun’ with a label sampler that featured three tracks from Tel himself alongside a remix of aproduction by Nature or Nurture boss (and regular fabric blog star), The Pushamann.
"I met Klunk about two years ago,” Francis offers by way of an explanation for his duel moniker. “He's my imaginary friend from the pub next door. We started making some music together and it was like we'd known each other in a previous life. But like his cartoon character I couldn't understand what the fuck he was saying, so I just didn't bother and concentrated on the groove."
And that’s what makes Klunk & Zilly tunes so great. Those locked grooves and driving evolutions no doubt stemming from Francis’ immersion in nightclub culture for the last 11+ years get injected perfectly with his own sense of humour and the result is consistently listenable.
Ahead of the label’s launch up in Room Three a week on Saturday - where Francis will be joined by Eddie Richards, Richard Seeley and Dodha - we’ve been given 5 copies of the label’s forthcoming release, two more tracks from K&Z: ‘Tomoro’ b/w ‘Wendy House,’ to give away in anticipation. To be in the running to scoop on of the 12”s just email us the answer to the below question before next Friday. Winners will be notified by email.
