Crate Diggin': 3am Recordings - 10 from 10

Following on from 3am Recordings boss, Al Bradley and his party cohort Phil Towers's Deadbeat Disco mix that we published yesterday and as a further celebration for the 3am Recordings 10th birthday celebrations this coming Saturday in Room Three, we asked the label to pick out 10 tracks from their catalogue that are particularly significant to them. They obliged and their picks are all here for you to stream complete with personal notes from Bradley himself; the perfect chance to get educated ahead of our joint celebration this weekend. Cuidad Feliz – Buenos Aires Burning (TAM001) Released in June 2003, this is the EP which kicked off the label, from Argentinean due Julian Sanza & Fernando Pulichino, who later formed an integral part of the 2020 Soundsystem set-up. Alex Moran – New Fish To Fry (TAM009) The lead track off a 2-track EP from Alex, this track received an enormous amount of DJ support, leading to it being played on Radio 1 by Rob Da Bank. Dealers Choice – Funtime (TAM014) This release was the first of the slower vibes on 3am back in 2005, with echoes of Italo & 80s disco thrown into the vibes. It also featured a remix from Pete Dafeet, making the first of numerous appearances on 3am over the last 10 years. Natasza & Oscarsix – Our Nightlife (TAM019) At the time of this release, Natasza & Oscar hosted a night at the excellent Prozak in Krakow, where 3am had held a 2nd birthday party in 2005, which was featured for a 2-page spread in DJ Magazine. This hook-up with Natasza & Oscar led to this release, which came out early 2007. Chemical Warfare – Revolutionary Vibes (TAM032) The first full EP from label boss Al Bradley, also featuring one of 3am’s original artists Ben Dean, who provided a powerful remix; Ben’s latest EP is the current release on 3am. Phil Towers – Rebel Sole EP (TAM034) One of the Deadbeat Disco duo, alongside 3am boss Al, this was Phil’s first solo release on 3am, after several as one half of Cosmic Groove Transmission. This release also features a cracking Paul Woolford remix, in his Skip Donoghue alter-ego. Makka & Howard Sessions – The Re:Tweak EP (TAM044) The EP from the two brothers contains label boss Al’s favourite track from the 3am catalogue, namely ‘The Mild Cigar’. A supreme deep house cut, which could have easily come out on early Paper Recordings, Toko or Glasgow Underground, 3 of the labels which inspired 3am. Carlo Gambino – Good As Gold EP (TAM050) As a long-time friend of Al, Carlo had made several appearances on 3am prior to this release, so it was an honour to have Carlo as the label’s 50th release. Since this release, Carlo’s profile has gone up hugely, with his recent appearance on Hot Waves confirming this. Nick Devon – So Addicted EP (TAM066) After speaking to Nick for a few months, it was obvious that he was going to be someone to get onto 3am; this was his debut EP after he had remixed Makka & Howard Sessions 'A Beautiful Day' a few months earlier. The lead track from this release is still no.1 in 3am’s top 10 on Beatport & the EP is a firm favourite from the catalogue. Ben Dean – SuperBlueMod EP (TAM081) Ben made his debut on 3am on TAM006 in 2003, which was also his first release on any label and he’s since made appearances on Wasabi, Baker Street, 6th Sense & numerous appearances on 3am. This is the latest release on 3am, with 'Mod Depth' from this EP featured in the Deadbeat Disco exclusive fabric mix.
