Crate Diggin: The Best Of 02:31 As Selected By The Artists

Birmingham based purveyors of future forward club music 02:31 have been a massive part of our programming for a fair few years now taking on both Room Three and Two over during our fond and fun relationship. This spring they will be making their Room One debut so with such a special happening heading its way we felt like this deemed it an apt time to take a deeper look at Tom Shorterz’s stellar party banner. For our latest Crate Diggin’ feature Shorterz has called on some of the club night’s most notable recruits and long-standing residents, pulling together a playlist to represent the kind of super charged and upfront four four music that 02:31 channels at its all night sessions. It also gives us something of a taste as to what we can expect come Friday 13th May, when they take to our basement space alongside Chris Lorenzo, Slimzee and New York Transit Authority.

Hannah Wants picks Double 99 - Ripgroove

Hannah Wants: This might seem like an obvious choice but I don’t think I could pick a more apt track to remind me of anything 02.31. A brummy classic, Ripgroove is a Speed Garage gem that is still as massive in clubs today as it was when it was released in 1997 which just goes to show good music really is timeless. I used to play this out when I was a 02:31 resident and I still play it today. Legendary beat.

Tom Shorterz highlights George Fitzgerald's Like A Child

Top Shorterz: This was such a tune when it came out and we used to play it week in week out and every time it used to set the pace. It’s a tune you can play early doors or peak set and fits perfectly.

Chris Lorenzo tips his collab with Alex Parkin - Prove To You

Chris Lorenzo: An early 02:31 heater for those cold winter months in the garden, always got the room vibing nice.

Cause & Affect chooses Shadow Child - String Thing

Cause & Affect: Definitely a 02.31 favorite without fail this would get the dance floor popping!! Ooh the memories!

Pete Graham loves Julio Bashmore's Au Seve

Pete Graham: Slightly obvious choice but I'll never forget the literal roar of the crowd when that first hook comes in was something special! To me back then music was less serious & so much more creative & fun to play out
