Introducing
Elijah & Skilliam

Rinse FM DJs Elijah and Skilliam are, for us, at the heart of where the dubstep and grime hybrid is at in 2010. As selectors they’re lodged at the very epicentre of the pulse, consistently fusing new sounds with classics via their radio show and their tirade of online mixes whilst pushing talents like Swindle, Terror Danjah and Royal T on their own freshly minted Butterz label. Making no qualms in a recent interview with Martin Clark for his Pitchfork colum about their love of the grime MCs that a lot of the time pull focus away from the producers whose beats they’re riding so geniusly, they choose to keep their sets MC free, letting the energetic rush of the music act as the catalyst for the rave rather than the aggressive shouted encouragement.

Having had a helping hand in setting up Grime Forum, running their Butterz blog and writing columns and guest spots in respected publications, like ours (sic), Elijah’s been one of those people whose enthusiasm and hustle is simply inspiring; plus when combined their techno legend bashing dodgem skills are second to none...

Playing fabric for the first time this Friday in Room Three alongside some other new bass music royalty - Deep Teknologi, Chef and the imitable ScratchaDVA – we thought it only correct and just to show you just a snapshot of what you can expect from the Butterz team, so have this mix they did for the Something Very Very Epic party which they tore up alongside sets from Untold, the whole Numbers family and more, that rounded out a lot of people’s Sonar Festival in typically inebriated fashion...

Catch Elijah & Skilliam in Room 3 this Friday.
