Introducing: Nu:Logic, their debut LP and their FABRICLIVE Promo Mix

Brothers Nu:Tune and Logistics are themselves pretty established names in the world of drum & bass, but on their latest album, their combined eighth in total for the label, they’re working in collaboration as Nu:Logic. As much an amalgamation of their individual styles as much as their production monikers, for their What I’ve Always Waited For LP they’ve been working closely with video director Nez Savaşkan to fully visualize their output creating individual vignettes for their brand of soulful drum & bass - the type which has come to epitomize the Hospital label. Ahead of their album launch party in Room Two on Friday 19th April, where the Gresham brothers will be performing alongside 4Hero, London Elektricity, Lenzman, Maribou State, Technimatic and Other Echoes, the lads put together a mix that’ll help contextualize their new material even further than the visual accompaniments do. We caught up with them quickly to ask them to better introduce the collaboration and find out a bit more about the album… Download: Nu:Logic – FABRICLIVE Promo Mix Obviously you guys are close, being brothers and all, but what made you want to make a whole album together? I kind of imagine there might be some sort of sibling rivalry, tune related one up man ship etc… There's definitely healthy competition between us, but it's not really sibling rivalry as such. We have a lot of fun making music together and actually have been involved in each other's musical output from the start. We had a gap in our respective album cycles, and it seemed to make sense. We both found it almost easier than working individually – long hours by yourself in the studio can send you a bit crazy sometimes! Added to that, we have very similar musical influences having been brought up on the same musical diet. We also very complementary strengths and weaknesses in the studio, so whenever one of us hit a brick wall, the other would step up. It’s called ‘What I’ve Always Waited For’, is that a little significant of your working relationship perhaps? It's actually named after a track from the album, but it reflects how we feel musically at the moment. Neither of us are particularly newcomers to the scene, and we feel that we're at a stage where we can indulge ourselves a bit with what we make in the studio. Also, with years of solo production and DJing behind us, it's a real treat to be able to work together on a full length project. You chose to create videos for all of the tracks on your forthcoming album. Now, obviously YouTube is a massive platform for music, but aside from that, what made you want to create videos for each song? With it being a new project, we had to work a bit harder to establish the Nu:Logic name, and make people aware of what were up to. We were also really behind the idea of having a simple visual representation of each track, and we were really happy with the end result. Similarly, what made you want to work with the one director across all the videos? We really wanted a cohesive identity to all of the videos, and that would have been tricky to have achieved with a collection of directors. We also really liked Nez's work on previous videos for Hospital so we pretty much left it up to him. What’s next for the project? We have a few remixes coming out, not sure if we can name any names just yet though! We also have a second single coming out in June so keep an eye out for that. We're also working in the studio on new material as well which should hopefully surface at some point later this year. Can you tell us a little bit about the mix? It's a little snapshot of all the music we're currently feeling – some cheeky VIP mixes and bootlegs thrown in for good measure. It's a fair representation of the way we play in club; we try to play as broad a spectrum of drum & bass as possible. Hope you enjoy it! Nu:Logic – FABRICLIVE Promo Mix Tracklist: 1.
