Following up DVS1's on point delivery of the first Curates event here in Farringdon on the 13th of this month, we've now revealed who exactly the next selector to helm the next edition will be - Dystopian boss Rødhåd. Here he outlines how he want about building the line up for Rødhåd: Curates on 24th March as we look forward to this second edition of the new Curates series.
Rødhåd: I want to start by thanking fabric for trusting me to invite some of my favourite artists and producers at the moment. Last time I was meant to play was at the 17th birthday, which couldn’t happen because of the club being closed, so now I’m especially looking forward to being back in the holy basement.
Starting with the legendary Room One, I am really happy to welcome Neighbourhood’s resident Tasha to build up the evening with us. Next to her, I am glad to be able to share the booth with Silent Servant. I’ve been following Juan’s work since his first undercover releases in the 90s, so it was a privilege to invite him. What he did with Sandwell District, Jealous God and his own sound and graphic vision is unbelievable. I’m always happy to see him around the world or to chill with him in his hometown of Los Angeles. There will also be the UK live premiere of a special friend of mine on the bill – to make this more exciting I will be dropping a few hints in the coming weeks until we announce who it is. But, I’ll tell you right now: all killer, no filler. Token approved material.
As a little spoiler here, Silent Servant and the mysterious live act work together on some amazing remixes of my material, which I will of course play on the night. And before I forget, I am also on the bill.
In Room Two, my good friend Jon Hester is making his fabric debut. His releases from last year made a big impact on the dancefloor and I actually played some of them in nearly every set. Jon is definitely one of the producers to watch at the moment, and a badass DJ too. I’m also happy to invite Monoloc for the night. His album ‘The Untold Way’ on my label Dystopian might be my favourite of the last few years. It’s just so atmospheric and hypnotizing, I am still so happy to have it released. If you didn’t get the chance to check it out yet, you should come to see him playing on the night. In addition I’ve also invited Tobias, one of the most stunning live acts and sound engineers for more than 30 years now. His music is so intense, so pure and at the same time so full of funk – it always fascinates me to listen and see him performing.
Finally of course, this line-up wouldn’t be complete without one of the most important things: that’s YOU, you girls and guys and supporters in London and around the world. London and the UK welcomed me warmly years ago and I am more than happy to be sharing this evening with all of you. So, make a note for Friday 24th March. See you at fabric!
Rødhåd Curates takes place on Friday 24th March 2017. Tickets are on sale now and available here.
