Saytek Gives Us his High's and Low's of 2012 and Download His Biggest Live Set of the Year

Any live artist that can boast a set at one of Ibiza’s world renowned closing parties can safely say they’ve had a good year. Cubism’s Saytek did just that, and, as well as gifting our blog with the first listen of the recording of his live set recorded this summer at Space, he’s reviewed for us the highs and lows of his 2012.Yep, it is customary of this time of year to review the events of the last 12 months of the western calendar and for the travelling house producer you get to experience a lot of glamorous and not so glamorous places and happenings including airports, plane cabins and a hell of a lot of parties, so we asked Saytek to relay to us which have stuck out for him for the best and worst of reasons as he gathers his Cubism crew to takeover Room Three on the 29th December. DOWNLOAD: Saytek Recorded Live at Space, Ibiza's Closing Party Best City… Rome was amazing! When I played there I got a chance to look around the city beautiful place steeped in history. I even managed to score some amazing coffee beans to grind when I got back to the UK! Saying that though I love London it’s where I have spent my entire adult life. It’s my favourite place on earth. Worst City… To be honest I have traveled a lot of cities whilst touring this year and haven't been to one that isn't nice. So I would have to say London again because it’s the best place on earth but also a lot of bad stuff happens in this city also as it’s my home its where all the good and bad stuff happens in my life. Best Restaurant… I have been so lucky this year, many promoters have taken me out for great food and looked after me well, but I would say my favourite meal would have been in Gaucho's London the steak is amazing! Worst Meal… Airport food, fast food and crap sandwiches that I am sometimes forced to eat on whist travelling on tour. That is when I miss my home the most and my beautiful fiancées cooking. I have had days in a row with no fresh fruit or veg has been available begins to make me feel grotty! Best Airport… London City , I love that airport and was lucky to fly from there for the Space Closing Party it’s not that busy well organised and the most professional run and comfortable I know. Best new technology… I am just in the process of buying a Pioneer RMX1000 for my live show, like I need more buttons to press! Best sound system… Sorry fabric! But this year I am going to have to say the Flight Area at the space closing party it was huge and perfectly engineered, sounded immense with punch bass, well defined mids and crisp highs. Really powerful and impressive fidelity for such a large system. I played on the terrace that has an amazing sound system as well but In terms of club installations though it has still got to be fabric! Best after party… In bed with my fiancée after a LONG weekend of touring nothing beats that feeling of coming home and knowing I can chill out relax and recuperate! Worst Airline… I would say Ryanair , but this year it’s been beaten by Jet2 , they made me empty out all my kit on an airport floor and nearly miss a flight to Ibiza after having no sleep from the previous gig because I was 1kg over on hand luggage surrounded by jobs worth that obviously enjoyed watching me suffer, Bastards! Best Gig… This year has been mind-blowing it would be impossible to say! From the start of the year at Fabric, to the terrace of Space Ibiza through open air festivals, secret raves and amazing clubs all over Europe … and to finish it off Fabric again ! Suffice to say I am very happy! Saytek will be live in Room Three on 29th December, for more info and tickets go here.
