Youtube Diggin' With Motorcitysoul

We are super stoked with this masterclass in retro grooves and contemporary cuts from Motorcitysoul aka Matthias Vogt & C-Rock. A desolate jewel of a record collection, the deep house duo, named after the German motorcities Ruesselsheim and Frankfurt, have gone beyond the call of duty providing us with a playlist of 70’s funk, Cocoon classics, WHAM and stand-out remixes from their “Selected Remixes 2004-2010”, recently crowned ‘album of the month “ on Mixmag- out now on Stir15 Recordings. Kicking things off with C-Rock’s favourite guilty pleasure to listen to, the disco-burning track from Imagination comes with a lavish music video that has truly inspired our look for this summer. It’s time to redeem those beads! Don't forget you can catch Motorcitysoul turning up the heat on Room Three on June 11th... What’s your guilty pleasure to listen to? C-Rock: I know one... Favourite jazz record? Matthias Vogt: Mighty Bill Evans! My all time favourite record is "You Must Believe In Spring"! The record that reminds you of the motor city home-town in Germany, Rüsselsheim? MV: Our first album "Did You Expect That?", as I still lived in Opel-city Rüsselsheim back than in 2004. Favourite 70’s soul/funk record? MV: Stephan Bittner, an old friend of mine spent some evenings with me, listening to old soul and funk stuff. He was like a teacher, and I was quite a good learner I guess. I collected a lot of vinyl, mostly 80's stuff like Change, Zapp, Chaka Khan, Prince... I love this kind of stuff. But you asked for 70's, so it has to be this one here: Summer anthem for 2011? C-Rock: Hard to say... at the moment it looks like "Raygesh" by Todd Terje is the one to bet on. Well, however, there is no real "Sandcastles" or "Rej" 2.0 in sight. Someone need to save us all this summer! Quick! Favourite record on Cocoon? C-Rock: There are so many... "Cathargo" by Loco Dice, "Belly Dancing" by Guy Gerber or Argys "Unreliable Virgin" (what a title, judging by the title that's pretty much the one) Record you wish you had made? CR:Moneywise: "Last Christmas" by Wham! For all things club music it is of course "Can You Feel It" by Mr. Fingers! Or, wait, no, it is Shep Pettibones & Eleanor Academias "Adventure"! Stand out remix from your brand-new Motorcitysoul'ed Selected Remixes 2004-2010 out now! MV:Our remix for Solomun & Stimming I’d suggest: CR:I definitely vote for our ‘Keep On Turning’ joint with Chez Damier!
