Groove Armada return to Farringdon. One of electronic music’s most recognisable duos, since the late 90s Andy Cato and Tom Findlay have consistently defined and redefined their own deep house and downtempo sound. Since the start of career they’ve put out 8 studio albums, and their most recent ‘Little Black Book’ LP saw them working alongside other key players in the house music field. Their sound has also been typified through their memorable DJ sets, and as regular EC1 guests they’ve become a key fixture in our diary. Joining them in Room one is Riva Starr, the Italian house artist and owner of Snatch! Records. While his own label acts as the main avenue for his tech-fused house sound, more recently Starr has also been affiliated to key imprints like Moon Harbour and Cajual. Also locked in to play Room One is Moon Harbour and Hot Creations don Cuartero, while Bristolian Punctual rounds off the bill.
Over in Room Two, we prep for another serving of deep house as Friend Within lands. Founder of the He Loves You label, through the last few years Lee Mortimer has developed a take on house music that remains distinctly his own. He’s joined by Finnebassen, the Norwegian producer and DJ known for his melodic touch on dance music. His most recent single ‘Rotundo’ was picked up by a slew of DJs in 2016, while those who’ve witnessed his sets have also heard his infectious sound. Rounding off the bill are one of Bristol’s most exciting breakthrough acts as fledgling house duo Icarus touch down in Room Two.
