We host three labels pushing the drum & bass scene forwards as Spearhead, Flexout Audio and Soulvent land. In Room One, Spearhead rep the musical side of the genre with a host of the label’s closest affiliates set to join label founder BCee. Joining him is Alix Perez, whose glistening productions can be found on labels like Shogun Audio and Exit. In recent years he’s turned his focus to his own 1985 Music imprint, where he pushes a similar strain of deep and rolling 170BPM. He’s flanked by Etherwood, the London producer best known for his ties to Med School. His work for Hospital’s sister label showcases his unique grasp on D&B, drawing influence from hard-and-fast jungle, floating ambient and downtempo tones. Rising talent Sweetpea also displays her cutting-edge take on the genre, while the bill is rounded off by two artists with a lot of promise, Airshots and Lens. Cleveland Watkiss, LX One and Texas step up on hosting duties.
Room Two welcomes Flexout Audio. The local imprint has firmly made its mark on the UK’s drum & bass scene since its inception in 2011, something the crew showed us at their high-charged Room Three debut in 2018. This time, they bring their instrumental-inclined sound to Room Two, with a series of back-to-back sets as the night’s focus: Dispatch artist Fre4knc faces off with Flexout staples QZB and Arkaik, while Bredren and Philth also share the decks. Amoss link up with Survey, Charli Brix and Bassi join forces, while Data 3 finally rounds off the bill. Joe Raygun and Sense share the mic.
Soulvent Records are back in Room Three, inviting their usual cast of next generation talents. Last time we welcomed the crew they took over the space for their milestone 5th birthday celebrations, and their next takeover promises more of the same blend of futurist liquid funk and upfront D&B. Preparing for his EC1 debut is Terror, who lines up against Jolliffe. In:Most, Walk:r, Dilemma, the team’s residents, Siege and Paleblu all prepare to return to round off a weighty FABRICLIVE celebrating the current and future of drum & bass.
