Farringdon hosts a cast of techno’s heaviest hitters. Returning for the first time since 2017 is Function, the New York artist who’s currently best known for his close ties to Berghain and the Ostgut Ton crew. Function’s been holding down a residency at the Berlin institution for a number of years, but his techno credentials span further than the German capital. Throughout the 90s he established his profile as one of the key figures in New York’s underground scene, before joining Regis’ highly revered Sandwell District collective. These days he’s still busy bringing his raw industrial-minded sound to clubs around Europe, and with his recent ‘Existenz’ LP on Tresor, he’s shown how acid house, experimental and more are still shaping his identity. Volvox makes her debut. Currently based in Brooklyn, the Discwoman affiliate has risen to the forefront of New York City’s thriving techno scene in recent years, mainly thanks to her residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club’s Jack Dept. In her record bag she packs a mix of early 90s acid, techno and EBM – sounds that she displays in fierce form during her electric DJ sets. Voiski plays live. Through his singular productions for lanels like L.I.E.S., Super 95 and Bassiani, the French artist has quickly become one of techno’s most admired figures today, renowned for his high-intensity live performances. The bill is rounded off by a London artist who’s been close to us for a number of years, Jay Clarke. With a recent release for Ben Klock’s Klockworks label and his ongoing residency with us, Clarke’s recently shown us he has a promising future ahead.
