fabric is 13 Birthday Countdown: Joris Voorn's Special fabric Tracks

Spinning, layering and blending intelligent dance music for over a decade, Rotterdam DJ and producer Joris Voorn has become an established name in our underground Farringdon circuit from consistently giving late night techno minds a rare and experimental treat. In case you missed the news, it's just been announced on our listings page that Joris will be joining Ryan Elliott, Sandwell District and Sigha on a pilgrimage to Room Two this weekend for our 13th birthday to sustain their own mecca of timeless music for techno devotees, late into the night with no fixed ending. Looking forward on the blog, we asked Joris three simple questions leading up to the looming birthday celebrations and asked him for a selection of special tracks close to him because of fabric. Tell us your favourite moment in the club? I've had many great moments, but my last gig in April at Room Two was one of the best. Mixing up raw underground house and deep minimal techno for a sweaty late night crowd. What makes fabric special to you? fabric's musical curation is fabulous and of an exceptionally high level. The audience understand music like nowhere else in the world. It's like a techno mecca that draws people from anywhere in the world. How do you feel to play your first fabric birthday this weekend? I've heard about this notorious party and I am very excited to be part of it. I'm playing late with non-fixed ending as far as I know. Sounds promising! Yaya - Never Alone (TiNI Remix) One of my favourite records at the moment, TiNI at her best with her delicate fine minimal grooves. Perfect for building things up during my set at fabric's birthday. Mulder - Natural High (Joris Voorn Edit) Amazing tune with a standout theme that will do magic on Saturday! Back Pack Poets - Objective T A deep mysterious techno track on Speedy J's label. Outstanding sound design with just a bassdrum. No hats, snares or claps to distract from the minimal beauty. Played this last time at fabric, it was magic! Terrence Dixon - Minimalism One of the first 12" EP's I ever bought because it had a beat and cost just a few bucks. I wasn't sure about it in the beginning, but it grew on me over the years, and is now one of my all-time favourite techno tracks. Can't wait to play this somewhere half through my set at fabric. Joris Voorn - Many Reasons Almost 10 years since I made this track in a one hour session in my crappy studio, but I still play it till this day. Full on minimal stab techno that will go down well at fabric. Please note, advanced weekend tickets have now sold out but there will still be plenty of tickets available on the door from Saturday 11pm. Advanced tickets from Sunday 10am are still available from our website and on the door.
