By now you’ll know the story: a promising young producer growing up in Romania heads for Bucharest, and within a few years becomes one of the stars of the country’s bursting electronic music movement. Ionut Arapu is one of these rising stars. The Romanian talent has carved a techno sound built on rolling basslines since 2011, drawing on a style of understated minimal that [a:rpia:r] first popularised. His music has been signed to the likes of Pressure Traxx, Understand and Eastenderz, and outside of producing and signing music to his own Liniar label, he’s widely regarded as one of Romania’s best DJs. He comes back to Farringdon for WYS! this Sunday, so ahead of the night, he sent us a mix taking the simple approach that less is more.
