Audio: Dynamic - FABRICLIVE x Bukem In Session Mix

Nottingham based drum & bass producer, Dynamic (aka Steven Lang), is joining us for Bukem In Session at the end of the month, so we thought we’d catch up with him and better introduce the man who’s productions are finding favour with labels like Apollo, Fokuz and of course, LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking imprint. Download: Dynamic – FABRICLIVE x Bukem In Session Mix No tracklist given. For those who may not be acquainted with your sound, can you introduce yourself? I'm a producer/DJ from Nottingham with music mainly signed to Goodlooking Records, Apollo (R&S), Fokuz and Rubik - alongside others. My music can span quite across the board: all different styles, tempos, influences, etc… But primarily I'd say my sound was tuned more towards the liquid/Goodlooking Recs style of d&b. What have you been working on recently? A whole mixture of stuff… I'm currently in the midst of writing a lot of d&b material for Goodlooking Records, along with some downtempo stuff for Apollo (R&S sister label). There’s lots coming up for next year. How did you get involved with d&b? Years back just generally diggin' the sound, and then realising there's lots more to be explored with the genre. For instance, when Bukem and those guys bought the more atmospheric/musical aspect into the frame, I was hooked from there. In terms of my own input, I started out as a DJ and moved into production around 2008, merely out of enjoyment. Then, after sending stuff out, lots of releases started happening and live gig offers started coming in, so I'm grateful to be able to contribute. How would you describe the music you make? My sound is quite diverse. I'm a lover of music and all musical styles, so I guess this is a reflection of that. However, if I were to narrow things down, I'd say my own music is tended more towards the atmospheric/jazz side of things - dancefloor music with soul. There's a certain dream-like quality I love in music too. Can you tell us more about upcoming music from you? There’s lots happening in the studio right now: loads of collabs, solo projects, etc. Release-wise there's stuff confirmed for Goodlooking, Fokuz, Rubik, Apollo and Phuzion... Lots of vinyl in the schedule too. We love our vinyl! Ahead of your set here at the end of the month, when you'll be joining Bukem in Room 2, what can we expect from the night? Just to have a good party! Musically, I'll be playing a whole host of stuff, along with exclusive new material never heard before. A musical journey with a dancefloor edge, you’ve got an amazing sound-system at fabric so let's shake the room! Catch Dynamic in Room Two on Friday 30th November.
