Audio: jozif's Top Ten Two Thousand and Twelve Treats

jozif A few months back we caught up with London DJ/producer jozif to talk about the launch of his Fist Or Finger label which he shares with fabric resident and musical director Craig Richards. In a time of intense musical creativity, it’s a gripping project regarded as an innovative synthesis between techno and house and the mounting interest in jozifs earnest artistry and craftsmanship is as ever, one to watch. Since then, we’ve been blown away by jozifs brand new “Twilight” EP out now on UK’s More Music, previously graced by the likes of Toby Tobias and Midland. Featuring the vocals of Terri Walker, it’s a soulful house roller that’s been doing the rounds on our office stereo this month and it's just another reason why we can’t wait for jozifs return to Room One on January 7th alongside Detroit beat smith, Carl Craig. In a line-up of epic proportions so early in our calendar, we wasted no time in checking in with jozif to get his top ten tracks to see in the New Year... jozif - Lady B EP The whole concept of this EP, the emotions that have gone into it and what it has meant for me, personally this year, have shaped my entire 2011. Kenny Hawkes - Sleaze Walking (Rob-In Fu**ing remix) Sadly we lost Kenny this year and out of all the amazing music he wrote (see Play the Game) this in the one for me. Never ever gonna get tired of paying this - one of those amazing pieces of music that's so simple yet so effective. To be able to do so much with so little is an amazing talent. RIP Mr Hawkes. Feist - Comfort Me Her show at the Palladium in London this year totally and utterly blew me away - inspired and motivated me beyond belief. Osonlade - Envision (Âme Acoustic Mix) A record I played every week at my We Love residency in Ibiza this year. A massive, massive series of shows for me with some of the best people in industry. I learnt soo much from those few months spent on the Island. Maceo Plex - Her Security An absolutely stand out year for Eric and although I probably played everything he put out in 2011 (and 2010!) this one just resonated with me the most. jozif & Craig Richards present; Fist or Finger Volume One A Special one for me as it was Craig and mines first Fist or Finger release and started me on an amazing little journey for the year. Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm no good No explanation neccessary :) Haggis Horns - Traveller Pt2 (PBR Streetgang Remix) Two reasons i chose this little beauty; I absolutely love everything the boys do and have been playing their stuff religiously this year It was the highlight track at my first Get Lost Show with the Rebels in Miami back in March - a simply aw-inspiring day / night ... Adele - Set Fire to the Rain This woman's album has never ever left my iPod all year & this particular record still makes me cry my eyes out! Jef k - Boy Meets Girl I dont think there was a party this year where i didn't play this record. Most of Jef's stuff has been my 'go to' music for 2011. Jay Haze (feat big bully) 'soul ina bottle' This record holds so many memories / emotions for me for so many, many reasons...
