Audio: Krystal Klear - FABRICLIVE x Hoya:Hoya Mix

To really introduce someone like Dec Lennon properly, you have to put yourself in a very certain mind state. As Krystal Klear he’s already an established DJ, label owner and producer, but he's also a resident at the Manchester club night Hoya:Hoya and as such he’s part of one of the most renowned and respected club families in the UK. Sometimes, you forget that. You overlook the hours, days and weeks of work spent amassing and [re]shaping the kind of record collection that can go absolutely anywhere and just talk about the last record he made or the fact that, like a lot of prevalent DJs, he’s got a Rinse FM show. Much like his Hoya compatriots Jon K and Johnny Dub, Lennon’s crates run deep and much like Illum Sphere he interweaves disparate genres with abandon, more concerned with keeping the dancefloor than any other kind of agenda. And it all shows in his projected personality too, one that is very much enjoying the playing, the travelling and the trawling that comes with any newfound fame as a DJ. And these are just a few reasons why this mix is pretty special. Sure, it captures a lot of that Krystal Klear style and foot focus but more than that it outlines a lot of what he and Hoya:Hoya is about: the way it plays, the way it feels, the way it meshes different things and the way it doesn’t think about itself too much. It’s absolutely the perfect thing to pre-empt Hoya’s next jaunt here on 4th April when their full complement of residents (bar Lone) make the trip to carve out another something special in our Room Two.
