Man Power has always been an artist shrouded in mystery. Although we now know him to be Geoff Kirkwood, for a long time his identity had been a secret known only by those for whom he produced. As a British artist, since moving from Berlin to Mexico his lifestyle choice for pursuing music is also a unique one. His records have landed across a number of labels varied in their musical approaches, though he’s probably best known for putting out records on John Talabot’s Hivern Discs and Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant, where he also released his debut album in 2015. As you might imagine for someone with such a coloured back story, behind Kirkwood’s music is an obvious aim to avoid definition by genre. This is a philosophy apparent on his recently launched Me Me Me imprint, which fits only loosely into a strand of house and techno notable for its melodic sound.
