Audio: Listen To Youandewan’s Rolling Promo Mix

Ewan Smith has been operating as Youandewan in the shades of dance music for some time now, although his name’s been doing the rounds more frequently than ever over the last few months. His debut album There Is No Right Time placed in many 2016 round-up lists as one of last year’s best full-lengths, and saw him broadening his horizons well beyond his textbook deep house palette. After growing up in Yorkshire, Smith relocated to Berlin to make music a number of years ago. Listening to this promo mix, that doesn’t entirely come as a surprise either: rolling and understated, it’s in some ways reminiscent of a sound currently played by the city’s stronghold of so-called minimal DJs. But there’s also an unmistakably UK-based sound to Smith’s music too, which has been nurtured perhaps most significantly by his relationship to Aus Music. As we prepare to host Youandewan as part of the 10-year celebration of Will Saul’s imprint, he fired us over this mix to give some idea of the kind of thing he’ll be bringing over from Berlin on 3rd February.
