If you’ve ever been to a drum & bass rave, it’s likely you’ll already be familiar with Shimon’s music. The UK DJ and producer has been at the crest of the UK movement for the best part of two decades, enduring changes in the scene and the emergence of the sound’s various offshoots. This is especially true inside the club: with some of the biggest anthems in drum & bass history, Shimon’s music still hits today like it did in the mid-90s. In those days he was best known for his ties to RAM in partnership with Andy C, but in the years since then, he’s forged his own path via AudioPorn Records. Since 2007, the label has been his primary creative outlet for putting out full-throttle drum & bass and other closely-linked genres, with Shimon himself among the key contributors. He’s also remained at key fixture in the club over the course of his career, something shown by his regular AudioPorn Records nights with us at FABRICLIVE. Ahead of his next one on Friday he prepared a mix for us, and true to form, lethal drum & bass is the key theme.
