Blog Mainline: Maya Jane Coles RA Podcast

Playing with fire can be a dangerous game but when you’re Maya Jane Coles, heating up the deep beats of house music is a talent that seeming flows effortlessly through you. The British/Japanese 23 year-old is a name on everyone’s lips right now, following her breakthrough soundtrack ‘What They Say’ - out last October on Parisian label Real Tone. It is a soft and sultry dancefloor bomb, with a surprising deepness, just like deep fried Coca Cola and it packs a satisfying shout out to the underground house movement of the 80's. The track swooped in on Resident Advisors top 50 for that month and is still sitting on top of DJ charts nonchalantly. Taking our Monday morning by storm, Maya has just chalked up a kiss-ass Resident Advisor Podcast that builds an underground labyrinth of seductive grooves and deep bass. A slow burner which you can get your hands on here: http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?id=241. Having amped up releases over the last two years on Dogmatik and 1trax, as well as remixes for Massive Attack and Gorillaz as part of her excellent band, She Is Danger; the young producer also has a dubstep project under the name Nocturnal Sunshine, garnering support from the likes of Joy Orbison, TRG and Scuba. Catch the pink-haired spinstress if you can. Miss Coles is already turning heads with her groove-heavy five track ‘Humming Bird EP’ out now on Hypercolour and has an upcoming release on Mobilee, which falls just in time for her debut performance in the Hypercolour hacienda of Room Three on January 29th. An old hand hustler in disguise? Afraid not, this is Maya Jane Coles showing us all who the force to be reckoned with is for 2011.
