On Friday we're opening up Room Two to one of drum & bass most regal and omnipresent imprints: Metalheadz. Piloted by the inimitable Goldie and his team of breakbeat enthusiasts the label’s impact on modern d&b is actually kind of un-quantifiable - just the synonymy of the label’s logo alone makes you think of jungle breaks and bass weight – but their combined history is something that we can look back over with relative ease in this, the internet age. But looking at a list of records on Discogs, even if they are artfully hyperlinked or embedded with YouTube rips of the tune(s) in question, won’t ever convey the magnitude of Metalheadz's output; that’s something probably best experienced in a densely populated dark room with a stacked soundsystem at one end. That’s why Metalheadz staffer and Dispatch Recordings bossman, Ant TC1, has put together a two hour mix that’s perhaps a little bit more functional, ahead of the event he’ll be playing at this weekend. Themed as a historical mix it features some of the all-time classic MHDZ related material and it’s the perfect thing to get you thinking about the deep impact of the imprint before they make pretty in a peacock like display of colour and intent when they take over Room Two with sets from Goldie, S.P.Y, Jubei, Doc Scott, Fracture, Ant TC1 and J Science.
