Robert Henke’s adventures into software programming are best noted for his input to Ableton software that has changed the face of music production and DJing to the point at a revolutionary level. This technological aspect to his work as Monolake is what defines his creativity as an artist and his consistence in presenting new ideas for a possible sonic future alongside sounds that mirror the innovation of the techniques he uses. That’s a pretty special characteristic to have in an increasingly busy exchange of ideas in our world...
We’ve tracked back to a previous live project, ‘Atlantic Waves’ an interface designed to enable performance over the internet between producers in different geographical locations. There’s a lot more to it than that of course but for the sake of failing to do the details justice, at this point, I’ll direct you to the page on his website here .
We’ve unearthed the recording of one of the project’s grandest performances to date at the Tate Modern’s Turbine hall back in 2004, you can stream and play via the player below. Food for thought as we prepare to welcome his current immersive sound and visual project Ghosts in Surround here a week today.
