Audio: Download A Refix of Kreayshwan by Brey

Brey is a dude who like’s re-edits. It’s kind of a good thing considering, he makes them incredibly well. Rather a mysterious character, Brey’s mash-up of Joe’s scene stealing ‘Claptrap’ and R&B starlet Cassie’s ‘Kiss Me’ got him a little bit of an internet shine and his ‘Face [Junk]’ track, which, much like ‘Claptrap’ is purely a rhythm track - though its build out of tumbling drums as much as it is handclaps, got included on Pearson Sound’s FABRICLIVE 56 album. So yeah, if you try to google him you’ll find little information, other than a link to his blog. ‘Face [Junk],’ one of his only discogs listed releases to date, was released under a different moniker, Die Barbie Musik Kollektiv and aside from a track called ‘Tru4ncy’ which was released on a free compilation by the Truants blog, he’s only really had a couple of tracks featured on a few mixes by Mele and Slackk. But what you do always get from Brey is a certain measurement of rhythm. ‘Tru4ncy’ for example, has about three differencing degrees of percussion: the pound of the bassline, the trickles of congas and the kick drums that jump about sporadically. And head of his appearance in the Blunted Robots Room Three takeover her on Friday he’s passed us a refix of Kreayshawn’s ‘Gucci Gucci’ track (and the accompanying instrumental) which further illustrates our point that he’s undoubtedly a chap who is indebted to the weird and awkward pound of a multitude of drum sample packs. Working his synths in a similar way to someone like Luncie, Brey just stamps himself and his love of drums all over the track, layering and stripping his percussive patterns at will.
