Audio: Jaden Thompson shares a fresh batch of unreleased house weapons

“It’s always a crazy feeling knowing that some of your favourite DJs are digging your music.” – Based on the last couple of years, Jaden Thompson should know this better than anyone. The rising UK producer’s modern house tunes have been getting rinsed at festivals and clubs recently, with leaders of the scene like Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers among his biggest fans to date. The Bronx duo have made a particularly big impact on Thompson’s journey so far – while his signature sound covers the same sunny dancefloor-ready terrain, he’s also been picked up for their Cuttin’ Headz label, with a follow-up penned for later on this year. We’re also backing the future star. We’ve been keeping track of his excellent studio output for a good while now, and having joined us officially, he’s also set to bring the heat behind the decks at Forms. After a busy summer spent in the studio Thompson recently took some time out to send us a mix filled with his own unreleased house weapons, the perfect precursor to his appearance in Room One this Friday. I’ve finished uni and locked myself in the studio over the last few months, writing a ton of music. My studio is now in the top of my garage, so it’s a great room to work in without worrying about making too much noise. Is there a theme to the mix? Absolutely – I wanted to create a musical journey crossing through house and techno, with some of my favourite records at the moment. There are a few unreleased tracks of mine in there, plus an edit I’ve done of Ghetto Kraviz. Do you tend to record quite spontaneously or is there a lot of planning involved? I like to think about which tracks I want to play first and last, as to me these are the most important, and set the tone for the mix. The rest is spontaneous. You’ve had plays from some pretty big hitters this summer, how has the response been to your latest tracks so far? It’s always a crazy feeling knowing that some of your favourite DJs are digging your music. It’s also a good indication that I’m on the right track musically, so for me it’s just a matter of maintaining this work rate. Is there anything exciting we can expect release wise in the near future? I’ve got some big releases lined up on some of my favourite labels, including a follow-up on Cuttin’ Headz!
