Audio: Lock into HOUSEKEEPING’s tribalist house mix

Until a couple of years ago, HOUSEKEEPING was known foremost as one of London’s best parties for house and techno. Comprised of members Taylor McWilliams, Sebastian MDH, Jacobi & Carl Waxberg, the crew’s style of funky, groove-driven techno made their events a regular success in the capital, combining highly danceable tunes with a carefree atmosphere. This winning formula has since helped them land dates across Europe, with a current string of weekly dates alongside Black Coffee on their fourth consecutive Ibiza residency. They make a quick return to London next Friday to join us at Forms, so Carl Waxberg sent us a mix of warm tribalist energy to build our anticipation. Download: HOUSEKEEPING (Carl Waxberg) Forms Promo Mix Is there a theme to the mix? We’ve been playing quite a bit of tribal stuff recently and the mix definitely features some of those vibes. It’s high on energy and rich on soulful and melodic elements. Where did you source the records from? We search far and wide for music that fits our style. Most of the sourcing is done the hard way by trawling through endless amounts of promos and new releases from our favourite labels and producers. The mix also includes a couple of tracks from our own label HOUSEKEEPING Records. Can you describe the vibe of a HOUSEKEEPING night for anyone who hasn’t been before? The HOUSEKEEPING nights have a reputation for having a genuine friends and family feel to them. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and we pride ourselves in playing underground music that’s still quite accessible and definitely makes you want to shake your ass. Is there anything you’ve heard about fabric that you’re looking forward to experiencing? We’re absolutely buzzing to be playing our first show at fabric on 20th July. We’ve all spent time at fabric over the years, and getting to stand behind the decks and see the club from the vantage point of the DJ is surely going to be a memorable experience. It’s such a legendary venue and one of the few remaining bastions of rave culture in London, so it’s a true privilege! Finally what are you up to through the rest of the summer? You’ll find us at Hï Ibiza every Saturday night this summer together with Black Coffee. Besides the fabric date, some other highlights of the summer include shows in Mykonos and Marbella, and various others. Follow us on our social channels to see more, and make sure to come to one of our shows!
