Audio: Luke Black shares a glitchy live session for Leftback

Whenever Luke Black plays live, it’s usually in one of the small venues on Berlin’s famously concentrated club circuit, but he was grafting on the UK scene long before relocating to the German capital. The early years of his musical career were mostly spent DJing between London and the Midlands – that started with the techno party Junk Yard, before regular Sunday stints at the sadly-missed London venue Public Life as part of the Supercool crew. It was at Supercool that Black formed close ties with Dudley Strangeways, with the pair now occasionally linking up for tracks on their labels Chord and Leftback. For Leftback’s EC1 takeover this weekend, Strangeways has invited Black to fly over from Berlin for a live performance. Black prepared a live session for us in advance of the date, which explores his signature glitchy, minimal style of house and techno, with understated, oscillating grooves at the core.
