Andrew Cole makes music as Luv*Jam and information on him is pretty scarce. Even on something as wildly encompassing as the world wide web, on a day where soundcloud wont load, the only thing close to a biography available is: “58% Rabbit / 16.1% Hedgehog / 4% Squirrel / 3.7% Fox / 3.4% Badger / 1.6% Rat / 1% Deer / 1% Stoat, Weasel, Polecat, Mink” which is taken from his RA profile and a rough geographical location (UK) via his Discogs page. But you know what? Sometimes you don’t need that gumpf; not when you’ve got YouTube, a pair of headphones and the work time to use them properly. If so, 2011’s ‘Mature Oak’ released on the Phonica label is probably a good place to start, with all its abbreviated acid charm and piercingly EQed pads providing quite a neat summation of what Cole is capable of producing. The aptly named ‘Shark’ is noticeably tougher though, a heavy suspension of aerated bass that wells up inside itself multiple times, threatening severity but restraining itself before an all out attack set to a click pulse of classic machine drum kicks. Playing here on 4th May in Room Three for the Throne of Blood label takeover he put together a promo mix which outlines the kind of material you can expect from his set which seemingly has one foot in the now (SDC, xxxy, John Talabot etc) and the other in the super exclusive , straight off the HD camp.
