Since working with No Hats No Hoods on his debut EP, Are You Ready?, East London’s Rude Kid has been one of those producers whose name gets mentioned when people refer to instrumental grime. Along with people like Swindle and the production team that the Butterz label put out, Rude Kid’s music feeds off the energy and sound palette of classic grime - all heavy rapid snares and toy synths – and it’s his distinctive sound signature that he calls ‘alien music’, that’s helped him craft beats for emcees and artists alike with people like Wiley, Skepta, Kano, JME and Ghetto all vocalling his productions.
He’s playing here on Friday in the Urban Nerds hosted Room Two and ahead of the event he dropped us this exclusive half hour mix. Now signed to Relentless Music and set to release his new single ‘Get Busy’ which features Skepta, Rude Kid’s making music that unites rave breaks, classic stabs and the unbridled power of bassline with the heavy half step of dubstep - something he shows a newfound passion for throughout his selections.
