Birthdays are happy occasions that's why we're chuffed that our Sunday residential party crew WetYourSelf! are enjoying their 7th anniversary this coming Sunday. To make it all the more special they've invited long-time friend and party companion, Marc Houle to bring his high octane live set to Room One. One thing about the WYS! Sunday sessions that always remains consistently great is the playing power of its residents Cormac, Peter Pixzel and Jacob Husley, so we've decided to share this particularly memorable B2B2B session while we catch up with Cormac to talk about the WYS! Crew’s achievements to date.
What was your 6th year like – what stood out as the defining moments?
Each year has brought great times and special moments. Last year it was great to focus on the homegrown talent that London has to offer and as a result we had some seriously great sets from locals at the club. combining these with our international guests meant that the year was very pleasing indeed. Highlights abroad included our residencies at space Ibiza, Rex Paris, culture Box Copenhagan, d.edge Brazil and a great time at Sonus Festival in Croatia with Magda and the crew.
What does it mean to have Marc Houle guest for the 7th birthday?
well hopefully it will mean annoying his agent on Monday to arrange a later flight and perhaps finding him somewhere to crash on Tuesday! But seriously it means spending and celebrating with a friend who has supported us for many years, and who happens to be a very exciting and ever evolving talent.
Standing on the cusp of another exciting year – what do you have planned and what are you excited about?
we take each party as it comes, focusing on what we can do to make each one stand out as a unique night out. We want to continue getting great talent on board for gigs and label releases, and continue to build the WYS! experience in select venues across the globe.
What tracks do you think will make up the WYS! anthems this year, what sounds are you most excited about playing at the birthday?
Here's a few special ones I've been particularly enjoying at the moment:
Marc Houle - Zorba
Shane Linehan- So Much For That
Motor City Drum Ensemble- Send A Prayer
Glimpse- True South
Radio Slave - Clone Wars
